Buff Experts is a super-inclusive brand that joyfully celebrates all bodies and skin tones. We are committed to having conversations around the health and wellness of the female body, including intimate care! We only make skincare for the neck down because we believe good skin is the bedrock for beauty and health. We’re a Canadian beauty brand and our definition of good body care encompasses not only helping skin survive but also thrive in harsh weather conditions. Our desire for the unicorn of body care goods – beautifully packaged, luxurious ingredients, well-priced and easily incorporated into your daily routine – led to the creation of a simple collection of intensely nourishing and amazingly effective bath and body care products for you.Why intimate care?
My story is that I suffered severely from chronic yeast infections for years and learned the hard way the importance of excellent intimate care products. I couldn’t find an adequate answer to my question on why there's a lack of specific and good-quality products for our sensitive lady parts. Our intimate bits are at the core of our femininity and when something’s wrong down there, it feels like something’s wrong with you. It’s eye-opening to realize how ill-suited and sometimes even harmful mainstream, women’s intimate care products were and continue to be. Every woman should have access to natural, good-for-you intimate care products because I don’t want women to suffer as I did. It’s why I formulated our intimate line to be extremely gentle and added beautiful plant-derived extracts that respect and add to a happy lady garden.
Where are your products made?
Transparency and compliance in beauty is very important to us at Buff Experts. All of our products are independently and thoroughly vetted by third-party regulatory specialists and registered with Health Canada to ensure our products are safe for you. You can find a full listing of the ingredients of every product we carry on our website and be assured that we use clean, safe, and non-toxic ingredients in all our products. We love using lots of organic ingredients where possible because we know these haven’t been sprayed with agricultural chemicals and herbicides. Our products are mostly vegan with no animal-derived ingredients other than honey, beeswax and yogurt. We don’t skimp on the quality of our ingredients either or bulk up our products with cheap fillers like silicone, petrolatum and mineral oil. Our manufacturers and suppliers are committed to ethical, traceable and sustainable ingredient sourcing and production with zero testing of ingredients and final products on animals. Our manufacturers are also FDA-registered and GMP-compliant for complete peace of mind when it comes to the production of our products.
Why are plant-powered body care products so important?
Many current body care products are filled with chemicals and fillers. From alcohol-based ingredients that dry and damage skin to petrolatum or mineral-oil containing products, the average body care product is the equivalent of fast food- cheap and pumped with filler. Our skin is a living, breathing and large! organ that needs good ingredients for optimal function. At Buff Experts, we use plant, flower and fruit-based botanicals, butters and oils first in our products before using what we consider safe synthetics. That means you’ll commonly find ingredients such as shea butter, cocoa butter, carrot seed oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, apricot seed oil, jojoba oil, camellia seed oil sea buckthorn seed oil, olive oil, lavender oil, rose oil, tea tree oil, aloe, chamomile, calendula in our products. This also means you’ll never find silicone, petrochemicals like petrolatum or mineral oil, phthalates, parabens, dyes, sulfates or PEGS. We stand firm in our belief that every body deserves really great skincare.
Are your products tested on animals?
Nope! And we're Leaping Bunny Certified to prove it. This means that there's no animal testing done in the process of our product development and our ingredient supplier is guaranteed to be 100 % free of animal testing. In Canada and the U.S. it is legal to test on animals. Being a part of this program shows a commitment to our customers that we care that our products are created ethically. Products that say "cruelty-free" or "not tested on animals,” may only refer to the finished product. The majority of animal testing actually occurs on individual ingredients. The Leaping Bunny Program is internationally recognized and formed from the largest animal protection groups in the United States and partners with animal protection groups in Canada and Europe. Buff Experts is really proud to be aligned with and part of this program because it shows our brand is truly cruelty-free from ingredients through to production. We only test our products on friends and families with an assortment of skin conditions like eczema and scent sensitivities to make sure our products are loved and accepted by all skin.
Are your products vegan?
Mostly! The only animal-derived ingredients we use in some of our products are beeswax, honey and yogurt extract.
Are your products cruelty-free?
Yes! We're certified under the Leaping Bunny Program and the PETA Cruelty-Free program.
Do you support any charities?
We make monthly donations to the UN Refugee Agency, a UN agency mandated to aid and protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. We are proud to support this agency which in turn supports people when they are most vulnerable. The UN Refugee Agency provides shelter to withstand the elements, cash to buy groceries and medicine, and protection from abuse and exploitation. In addition, 25% of sales of all Black Lives Matter Tees are donated to the Centre for Race and Culture in Edmonton.
Is your packaging recyclable and/or reusable?
Our product packaging is recyclable so please do recycle or reuse your empties. We also minimize the use of secondary product packaging in order to reduce waste. When we ship your order, we only use recycled boxes and Kraft paper for padding. Our packaging tape is a water-activated gummed Kraft paper that is eco-friendly, recyclable, biodegradable and re-pulpable. This means you can leave the packaging tape on and simply place your box in your recycling bin. We are committed to 100% plastic-free packaging for recycling or reuse, especially as online shopping becomes increasingly popular.
